Akiko Trush

Hi.  My name is Akiko Trush and I offer at home private piano and music theory lessons at around Roppongi, Hiroo and Azabu area, at my studio in west Tokyo, and virtually all over the world.  Welcome to my music studio site.

My core belief is that music making is a medium to nurture our mind, body and soul.   Whether you are a 4 year old who is getting curious about lessons, or a professional who is furthering advancement in your career, I am dedicated to sharing with you a holistic musical experience.

The process of advancing competence in performing a musical instrument is an enjoyable process at all levels.  My goal is to cultivate physical and emotional awareness with students as we work on the building blocks that constitute piano playing such as acquiring free movement (technique),  understanding of musical parameters (theory)  and context of music (music history).

Please schedule a trial lesson if you are interested in working with me. I look forward to meeting you.

A little bit about me...

Akiko Trush started playing piano at the age of 5 in Los Angeles, USA.  She has performed in the USA, Mexico, Italy and Japan and she is an active soloist and a chamber musician.

After moving back to Tokyo in 2009, she established Trush Music Studio, a bilingual studio dedicated to expanding individual potentials through music education.  She has launched numerous projects including Performing Poet Productions children’s concert series, a bilingual classical music concert production featuring music with visual performances, summer festivals and international music competitions.    She is currently a director and faculty member of Matsubarako Chamber Music Festival and a vice chairperson for American College of Musician Tokyo chapter.

Akiko’s interest in mind body spirit connection roots in overcoming her own struggles from musicians' injury.   She continues to contribute her perspective as a musician through helping other afflicted musicians and organising mastermind groups that consists of practitioners, researchers and medical professionals in Japan.

She holds Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Masters of Fine Arts from Tulane University the USA in piano performance.  Her previous teachers include Monique Duphil, Faina Lushtak and Maxiom Mogelevsky.

She is a mother of 3 very active boys and enjoys exploring hot springs in Japan.
